Seen and Not Heard (2)

As a young woman, I was told upon more than one occasion that I was to be seen and not heard. Other times, I was told to “sit there and look pretty.” Sadly, my youthful, unsure self did not stand up to the people who said these things to me, and these experiences have lingered in my mind ever since.

“Seen and Not Heard (2)” is one in a series of three paintings. Beautiful painted lips, full and soft, are savoring the moment of consuming a freshly plucked, human eye.
